I recently visited a ramen restaurant in Sejong called Denkai, not once but two days in a row. This small place is located on the first floor of First Tower on Hannuri-daero. It is easy to find because during lunchtime there is always a waiting line outside. The shop looks like a simple Japanese ramen bar from the outside.

The restaurant is open only for lunch. Hours are 11:30 am to 3:30 pm, closed on Saturdays. Parking is available in the building’s basement, and the first two hours are free, which is convenient for visitors.

The menu focuses on Japanese style ramen. Main choices are Tonkotsu ramen, Shoyu ramen, Miso ramen, and Tantan ramen. Prices are around 11,500 to 12,500 won. You can also add toppings such as soft boiled egg, extra chashu pork, or extra noodles. One special thing about this restaurant is that you can adjust the broth. First timers can choose the basic broth. If you like stronger flavors, you can pay a little extra for a richer broth or try the “Japan style” option for an even deeper taste.

Inside, the restaurant is small with bar seating and a few tables for two or four people. The design is simple with wood furniture and soft lighting. It feels like stepping into a casual ramen shop in Japan. Many customers come alone, but it is also fine for a small group.

On my first visit I tried the Tonkotsu ramen with extra noodles. The broth was rich but clean, not greasy. The chashu pork was soft with a light smoky flavor. The noodles were firm and matched well with the broth. On the second day I tried Miso ramen with egg topping. It had a deeper, savory flavor and the egg was perfectly cooked with a soft center. Both bowls were satisfying and made me want to return.

If you plan to visit, I recommend coming right when they open because the seats fill quickly. Also check the day, because they are closed on Saturdays and only open at lunchtime. For people who are new to ramen, the basic broth is a safe choice. For people who want stronger flavors, the rich broth or Japan style broth options are worth trying.

Overall, Denkai is one of the best ramen shops in Sejong. The food is consistent, the flavors are strong yet balanced, and the custom options make it fun to order. My rating is 4.7 out of 5.
