Scrap Metal Price Update – February 12, 2025
Hello, this is Seogyeong Used Machinery Insights. Today, we will check the latest scrap metal prices for February 12, 2025. Keeping track of price changes helps buyers and sellers make better decisions.
Currently, the price of heavy scrap is 395 KRW per kg, and light scrap is 275 KRW per kg. Compared to last month, heavy scrap has increased by 50 KRW, and light scrap has risen by 30 KRW. Stainless steel prices remain unchanged. STS 304 is 1,450 KRW per kg, and STS 316 is 2,900 KRW per kg.
Scrap steel prices are rising because of higher demand from the construction and shipbuilding industries. China is also limiting steel exports, which has increased global prices. In addition, scrap stock is low, causing prices to go up.
Stainless steel prices have remained stable. The main reason is that nickel prices have not changed. Since stainless steel depends on nickel, there has been no major price shift. Supply and demand are also balanced in the market.
Scrap steel prices may continue to rise. Some experts predict that heavy scrap could reach 400 KRW per kg by the end of February. The demand in the construction and shipbuilding industries will be a key factor. Stainless steel prices are expected to stay the same unless nickel prices increase.
For sellers, this may be a good time to sell while prices are high. Buyers should consider buying in small amounts to avoid risk. Keeping an eye on market trends is important before making any big decisions.
